How to Write Fiction Readers Will Love

“You taught them more in one morning than I was able to in years! Thank you so much!” (from a parent whose students attended a previous writing workshop)

Online Workshop Series for Teens

Is your teen interested in writing fiction? Are they always thinking up stories? Do they have half a novel already written? If so, I invite them to join me for a series of 7 online workshops about how to craft quality fiction that readers will love!

We’ll learn about and practice the following fiction skills –

November – Intro & Importance of Point of View

December – Writing Great Characters

January – Setting and Description

February – Effective Dialogue

March – Plot and Pacing

April – Character Journey and Message

May – Memorable Beginnings and Endings

*Deadline to sign up for the November workshop is Saturday, November 12.

Students – Open to high school students, who already have a fiction work in progress or who are eager to start one. These workshops include a group dynamic (maximum of 10 students per workshop), so that students can encourage and provide feedback for each other as they make progress on their individual projects.

Time – We’ll meet once a month on zoom for 75 minutes, with time for instruction, writing practice, feedback and interaction, and Q&A. Meeting time will be determined each month based on the schedules of participating students. Most likely it will be on a weeknight from 7:00-8:15 pm (eastern time). Or it could be on a Saturday around noon, or a school holiday.

Cost – $25 per workshop, or a package of all 7 workshops for $150

Recording – Workshops will be recorded on zoom. A release form will be provided for both the student and a parent to sign acknowledging their permission to be recorded. If a student misses a live workshop, they can access the recording afterward. Students will have access to each recording they purchase until August 31, 2023.
